This year you, as a student, can get an exclusive discount at ESNS. Are you interested in listening to music ánd learning about music? ESNS Academy is your answer. Start off with a creative lecture, continue with visiting two to three inspiring workshops about the industry and top the night off with amazing showcases all around town!
Interested in music journalism?
You’re in luck! The Academy program features two music journalists. First, we have Ingmar Griffioen, editor in chief of Never Mind The Hype and freelance pop journalist for 3voor12. Besides, he’s a part of the selection committee for Popronde. In his workshop he will share his tips and tricks and several experiences in the field. Next, we have Wouter van Dijk, editor at Noisey. As an interviewer of many well-known and up-and-coming Dutch artists, he knows the Dutch music scene as no other. Which choices did he make to pursue his career in music journalism? Find out at his workshop.
Aspire a career in producing?
This is your chance! Camiel Daamen from Ableton demonstrates his Lessons in Live during the ESNS Academy program. How to live produce music? Find out at this on the spot demo and small Q&A session. Besides producing music, the marketing of music is a big part of many organizations. In a workshop by Pascal Rakers, founder of KopjeK, you will learn about the ins and outs of out of the box marketing strategies.
In need of definitions?
Enlighten yourself! Join music philosopher Tomas Serrien in his search for the definition of music. Frank Zappa once said that writing about music is the same as dancing about architecture. Is there still something useful to say about musical sounds? Tomas Serrien thinks there’s definitely still a lot to say about music. But before we do, we need to understand the meaning of it.
